The Ottawa Valley Touring Club was founded in 1979 by a group who had one thing in common, MOTORCYCLES!!! We started out as a non-brand affiliated riding group, and remain that way to this day. In the beginning, the club grew to a formidable size, at one point reaching 125 members. In the early 80s, the OVTC was actively into motorcycle rallies. This took the form of campouts with other members and with other clubs. Our Ottawa Valley Touring Club started a rally as well, aptly called The Rally In The Valley. Up to 200 riders would journey hundreds of miles to spend the weekend with old friends. OVTC - THE PRESENTTodays OVTC focuses more on day rides and evening get-togethers. On any given weekend, you will see our members gathering for a ride be it one that our Road Captains have put together, or one hosted by another local club in support of a charity. Destination and distance may vary each time, but one thing never changes the OVTC RIDES! Some of our members still participate in weekend rallies such as the Freedom Riders Rally in Sudbury (ON) and the Waterloo rally; others religiously travel to Lake George in June for Americade. When Friday the 13th rolls around, Port Dover (ON) attracts a solid following of riders for yet another weekend event as does the Ride For Sight. Our members have even participated in extended trips to such destinations as the Blue Ridge Parkway and the Grand Canyon. Contact Us for more information on our club and activities. Better yet come and meet us! Our montly get together is on the First Thursday of each month at the Nepean Museum, 16 Rowley Avenue (off Meadowlands Dr., between Merivale Rd. and Woodroffe Ave.). Meetings generally start at 7:30 p.m. and we usually go for coffee afterwards. In the summer months, it could end in a nice ride. RIDE SAFE !! |
